Consider the factors that contribute to your mental health in addition to the stress of financial issues. There are many factors that create a mental attitude of stress, anxiety, and even depression.  These factors can impact the quality of life you live and can negatively impact your physical health as well.

Mental wealth comes from within you.  It is not from working hard, stockpiling lots of possessions, or inheriting money.  It comes from you and your own state of mind.  Living life to the fullest means having financial freedom AND mental freedom, which equates to mental wealth.

Identifying the things that lead to mental wealth is the first step in your quest.  Mental wealth starts with positive thinking and persistence.  It requires thoughtful review of your current situation and how it affects your mental health.

Think about the things you do in your daily life and identify any areas of your life that create mental stress and fatigue.  For example, does your job cause you so much stress that you dread going to work each day?  Do you arrive home after work more fatigued from the stress of the day than from the actual work that you do?   If so, you may need to evaluate whether or not your job will fit into your new, simplified lifestyle.

Does your job and/or other obligations leave you enough time to spend with your family and friends?  Do you regularly engage in leisure activity or are you so busy working, doing chores, and running errands that you don’t have time to enjoy yourself?

Remember, in order to live simply happy and debt free, you’ll need to align your values with your goals.  In other words, if you’re someone who truly wants to spend time with their family and friends, does your lifestyle support that?  If not, it may be time to make some changes.

No one’s life is stress free all the time and no one has a perfect lifestyle.  However, it’s important that you decide what it is you value most in life and then create a lifestyle that will support those activities and values.  While it won’t happen overnight, committing to a set of goals that will directly lead to a debt free, simplified lifestyle will help to set you on the pathway to the lifestyle you want to live.

The idea of course, is to create a lifestyle that supports you financially, mentally, physically, and spiritually.  You’ve taken the first step by reading the articles here.
